Monster Watcher
This game was created as my final project for my Game Development Major, over the span of three courses: Game Prototyping, Game Capstone I, and Game Capstone II. The assignment was to design, prototype, develop, and polish a complete game concept to a "shippable" degree. I decided to make a "monster watcher" game where the player is tasked with observing a field of silly creatures and documenting their silly behaviors using their camera in order to gather information. To this end, I needed to not only write dialogue and interface content, but also maintain a process journal and write multiple reflections.
This project not only demonstrates my ability to maintain a single project for a long period of time and bring it to a polished state, but also my ability to maintain records and reflect on my own work. While coding and design took up the bulk of my time, producing consistent, readable writing was also a key element of this project, which I hope demonstrates the diversity of my skills. Using this experience, I hope to develop my ability to write natural, easy-to-follow instructions and informational text, and improve my game writing abilities.
